Every year Active8-Sheffield hosts a summer charity fun day in aid of two fantastic causes close to all our hearts here at Active8, Weston Park Cancer Charity and The Barnsley Hospice.
Our most recent fun day was held on Sunday 12th July 2015, where we packed Tapton School full to the brim with visitors, activities, sports and fun.
A large focal point of the big day was our Charity Junior Football Gala, which was an enormous success and made great for great viewing throughout the day. Teams turned up from all over the city – from Crosspool to Maltby and Ecclesfield to Stocksbridge, the variation in teams and age groups was impressive.
As well as the football, we had plenty of other activities going on throughout the day, with bouncy castles, a parrot show, fairground rides, face painting, a car boot sale, various craft stalls, charity basketball and tennis, our ever-present Caribbean food on offer and, not to mention, Big Al himself leading the microphone and getting everyone involved, including numerous members of Active8 staff taking part in a Macarena dance-off?!?
The total raised from the day was a healthy £915.00 with all proceeds going to Weston Park Cancer Charity and The Barnsley Hospice.
The successes of this event will be carried on into future years and it would be great if you could join us at our next event.
If you have any ideas for our event or would like to host an event of your own within our capable hands we would love to hear from you.
