Adventures of Active Alvin II

Posted on: July 9th, 2010 by Nathan Reid

Active Alvin has continued his travels over the last few weeks.  This time ending up at The Sheffield Tigers rugby ground to provide support at a disability event with the help of LINKS and Activity Sheffield.

Alvin proved to be a popular ‘guest of honour’ at the presentation where each participant received a medal and certificate.

Alvin with his wide smile was more than happy to have his picture taken, shake hands and mingle with the participants after the presentation.  Alvin even decided to ‘show off’ his dance moves which some of the participants decided to out shine to great applause from the audience.

Throughout the day activities included rugby, cricket, boccia, golf, a speed test, accuracy challenges and games.  Everyone seemed to have a fantastic time, which was a testament to all the helpers and groups who took part.

Who knows where Alvin will end up next, his travels so far have taken him through to meet Santa last Christmas, attend the Mosborough Fun Camp, assist at 2 Playground to Podium events at the English Institute of Sport, show off his cheerleading skills at a King Edwards Community Day as well as trying his hand at archery, and finally helping out at a football disability day held at Sheffield United Academy before this latest venture at Sheffield Tigers rugby.

Adventures of Active Alvin

Posted on: June 8th, 2010 by Nathan Reid

Active Alvin attended a multi sports event held at our King Edwards Community Site during the bank holiday weekend.  There were numerous activities on show including badminton, rounders, fencing, cheerleading, archery, tennis, and capoeira.

Alvin showed his hand by having a go at the archery and cheerleading whilst playing games and having his photo taken.

Alvin also met the Lord Mayor of Sheffield who attended the event and also Olympic diver Nick Robinson-Baker.

The weather was sunny and dry which added to the enjoyable day.  The event was organised and run by the Civil Service and we hope that we will be able to work with them again in the future.
