Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice

Posted on: November 26th, 2012 by Nathan Reid

Over the last 6 months the students from the Natalie Wilkinson piano school have been working hard fundraising for Bluebell Wood children’s hospice in Sheffield. They have sold raffle tickets, and collected in local supermarkets but the big event was a huge charity music concert which took place on Sunday 18th November at the Lady Mabel Hall at Ecclesfield comprehensive school. The venue was a sell out, with all 375 tickets being snapped up. The concert consisted of pianists all levels and abilities and local singers.

The concert was arranged and produced by Natalie Wilkinson who decided, after the success of the last charity concert, to produce another. She chose Bluebell Wood as she wanted to support a local children’s charity and so the students of the school could do something for other children less fortunate than themselves. The evening was an amazing success and raised a huge amount for this wonderful charity. Representatives from Bluebell wood came out on the night and described the concert as “amazing & inspirational”.

Natalie had some tremendous support from lots of local companies and individuals. Local mountain biking legend Steve Peat got behind them and donated one of his signed racing jerseys which raised over £400 at auction. Department store giant John Lewis also donated £1266 after Natalie wrote to them explaining what they were doing and asking if they could help. Bluebell wood then became part of the “community matters” programme and the public voted between 3 charities for a share of £3000.
Natalie, who teaches many local children and adults including those with disabilities and special needs said that she was very proud of how much had been raised and was grateful to all involved.

After visiting Bluebell wood and meeting the staff and some of the children, she said the piano school would continue to support Bluebell wood in any way they could.

The total amount donated to Bluebell wood was £5500.00.

Sheffield Education finished off their fund raising year by holding a Rock Night on 3rd December, featuring The Tony Liddle Band. The raffle was drawn by Operations Manager Francis KyeKye during the evening. Also, sporting memorabilia provided by Arsenal FC and Boxers Ryan Rhodes and Johnny Nelson was auctioned by Ex Sheffield Wednesday Player Stevie Adams (Stevie uses Interserve facilities for his training schools). Tony and his band rocked the night by performing a set of commercial rock classics.
